Crafting a festive pumpkin may seem daunting due to the inevitable mess that comes with carving. Fortunately, I have a solution! These adorable mini pumpkins are both easy and charming. You likely have all the necessary craft supplies to create them already.

These ideas are simple and kid-approved, leaving far less mess than traditional pumpkin carving. Furthermore, the options for pumpkin colors just keep broadening! For instance, I recently purchased dish towels featuring blue pumpkins- a surprisingly cute twist on the classic orange.
Choose whichever paper color best fits your vision. White pumpkins are always chic, but autumnal hues are great for creating an authentic leaf-crunched ambiance.
Begin by cutting the paper into 1-inch strips. For the pumpkin depicted, you'll need four strips in total. A paper trimmer can be helpful, but scissors will do just fine.
Now that you have four 1-inch strips, use a hole punch to add a hole on each end. I personally recommend using the Crop-a-DILE, as it is a heavy-duty hole puncher that can penetrate even the thickest surfaces- perhaps even that of the devil's soul! (Just kidding about that last part.)
Preparing the Pumpkin Stem for a DIY
Let's begin by preparing the pumpkin stem for this fun Halloween DIY project.
To start, create a loop of roughly the same size as a nickel. Pinch it tightly to flatten the loop. This will hold the pumpkin together while you fix the stem.
Next, align the strips in an X-like pattern and fold each one up to build this easy pumpkin. Begin at the top and go around in a circle. You should try to match up the holes to insert your pipe cleaner.
Now that you have your pumpkin paper strips in one hand, insert the pipe cleaner through the hole. Start with one end of the pipe cleaner to keep the strips together, then insert the second side.
Pull the pipe cleaner tight and twist the ends together to make the top stem. For the finishing touch, fold the tails down and wrap the ends around a pencil to create the signature curled effect.
Add a couple of embossed paper leaves to the pumpkin. You can cut them from paper or use real leaves to make your DIY unique!
Don't forget that vinyl is an easy way to decorate a pumpkin. Check out these pumpkin designs we have created for cut files. They make for great signs, graphic tees, and banners to hang on your window or mantel.
