Despite its name, Ana's Mostly Mahogany is not solely focused on mahogany furniture. This hidden gem is located in Highwood, IL, just outside of Chicago. While some items may be on the pricier side, they offer floor models and photoshoot pieces from high-end home decor shops at The Merchandise Mart at a fraction of the retail price. Randolph Street Market – Chicago, IL

I can't wait for the Randolph Street Market to return once Covid-19 is under control. Typically, it runs on the fourth weekend of every month, and during the summer months, it features an outdoor furniture market (the indoor market operates year-round). I've discovered so many treasures here, including a perfectly restored Dorothy Draper dresser, incredible vintage art, lighting, clothing, and more. While there's a small entrance fee, parking is free unless you choose valet. During the summer, the market also offers entertainment like a DJ, live band, food trucks, and even pour-over coffee. Trust me, it doesn't get better than this when it comes to home decor shopping in Chicago.

Anecdote, located in La Grange, IL, is the brainchild of Danielle Moss, the founder of The Everygirl. When you step into this boutique home decor shop, you'll feel like you've entered a fancy Parisian market rather than a suburban store in Chicago. It was recently featured in House Beautiful's guide to the best home stores in America. If you can't visit in person, don't worry – they also have an extensive online site. Some of my favorite pieces include a small chest, a stunning velvet armchair (currently unavailable), and a sculptural dining table.

Textile Discount Outlet – Chicago, IL

From the outside, Textile Discount Outlet may not attract much attention, but inside, it's a dream come true for seamstresses and costume designers. This warehouse is stocked with trim, fringe, feathers, sequins, vinyl, embellishments, ribbon, velcro, and every imaginable fabric. If you venture into the basement, you'll discover a wide variety of upholstery fabrics. Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours here and wear old clothes, as it can get quite messy. Trust me, it's worth it! Furniture with a Soul

There are twenty Nadeau stores across the states, but this Chicago location on Ravenswood at Montrose is one of the largest. The selection includes over 6,000 unique pieces crafted by skilled artisans from around the world. The majority of the pieces are made from solid wood and are meticulously handcrafted.

Just last year, Ork Posters founders launched a new venture called Neighborly. Located in the North Center/Lincoln Square neighborhood, Neighborly is a modern home goods and artwork shop. Their mission is to bring affordable and well-designed Mid-Century Modern style goods to the consumer market.

Since 1995, a 7000 square foot storefront on Irving Park has been home to about 30 dealers specializing in modern furniture. The selection also includes chandeliers, jewelry, and structural elements. All items are priced competitively, so it's recommended to act quickly if you find something you like.

An Orange Moon is a hidden gem on the South Side known to savvy shoppers. They offer great deals on mid-century pieces in excellent condition.

Alessandra Branca, the woman behind the brand Branca, has become a standout interior designer with her strategic use of classical art and architecture. Branca closed one location on Pearson last year but inaugurated an atelier on North State Street for the launch of her own furniture and interior accessories line. Her creations combine formal beauty with relaxed livability.

Coyle & Herr

Architect Mary Beth Herr and Dorothy Coyle, Chicago's office of tourism director, have joined forces to open a shop in The Bridgeport Arts Center on 35th street. Coyle & Herr offers consignment items and a mix of Leslie Hindman auction leftovers, available for 10-day periods once a month or by appointment.

Norman Leigh Design

Specializing in home decor and accessories, Norman Leigh Design is a South Side-based company that prioritizes the use of reclaimed materials whenever possible.
